Living Lakota is a bi-monthly show that celebrates the memories and stories of Lakota culture in a time when traditional values were practiced and when life depended less on technology and more on survival and solidarity.
The tone of the program is ‘straight forward’ and lighthearted.
Moderate emphasis on historical accuracy and fact checking to give raw and genuine presentation.
Conversations will be political-free as much as possible.
Emphasis placed on storytelling and humor.
The goal of the show is to provide education, insight and to promote awareness to cultural identity.
KOYA-FM is a community based educational radio station owned by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. We emphasize in promoting Lakota history and language preservation through localized programming. Our mission is to provide general information on health, tribal government/cultural affairs, safety, and health issues, along with an eclectic mix of music that appeals to listeners of all ages.
