Class B boys basketball polls - How they fared - Rosebud Media Class B boys poll

Well, there were no polls for the week between Christmas and New Years, SO, the last South Dakota basketball poll was given out on Dec. 18 and the next one should hit the internet on Jan. 2.

And so, White River was just out of the polls last week, let's check and see what the top rated Class B boys teams in South Dakota have been up to.

Class B

1. Bridgewater-Emery (20) 1-0 119 1

2. Clark/Willow Lake (5) 3-0 102 2

3. Sully Buttes 2-0 66 3

4. Irene-Wakonda 2-1 35 4

T-5. Canistota 2-0 20 T-5

T-5. Langford Area 3-0 20 T-5

Receiving votes: White River 8, Warner 3, Corsica-Stickney 1, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 1.

No. 1 - Bridgewater/Emery....Well, the Huskies took an overtime loss to Prior Lake Minnesota at the Mike Miller Classic, 72-68...B/E ran into a buzz saw in 6-10 center, Dawson Garcia who pumped in 30 points while adding 11 rebounds.

B/E will likely remain at the No. 1 slot (in my poll at least) as Jamin Arend led the Huskies with 26 points and Sawyer Schultz added 23 points.

6-10 Dawson Garcia

No. 2 Clark Willow Lake - Well, the Cyclones may move into the No. 1 slot after B/E lost, but, a tough schedule coming up in the next few weeks will clearly define what C/WL is all about. Most impressive in their 5-0 start was a 73-58 season opening win over No. 5 rated Class A Sioux Valley.

Season schedule:

Dec 093:00 p.m. CTSioux ValleyVolga73-58W525-1

Dec 126:30 p.m. CTDe SmetWillow Lake63-38W441-3

Dec 155:00 p.m. CTBritton-HeclaClark63-52W411-4

Dec 196:30 p.m. CTFlorence/HenryHenry65-23W473-3

Dec 215:00 p.m. CTHamlinWillow Lake56-48W523-1

A few days off until CWL takes on Lennox, in Lennox and then Milbank, in Milbank before a game at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls.

No. 3 Sully Buttes - Expect the Chargers to stay about the same in this week's polls as Brian White's crew lost to Dakota Valley at the Parkston Classic, 46-56. Ya don't win titles in December so the Chargers likely will benefit and learn from the game with Dakota Valley.

No. 4. Irene/Wakona - The Class B poll is pretty east-river heavy and I would expect Irene/Wakonda to slip into the those receiving votes category this week. A home loss to freeman, 67-71 on Dec. 21 was followed by a win over Hanson and a nice road win over No. 5 Langford. That road win over Langford suggests this is going to be a team to deal with come Region times.

Tie No. 5 - Canistota Hawks - Another east river team in the polls early. Like any other Class B school that has played Bridgewater/Emery, Canistota dropped a game and will likely drop in the polls. Dec. 19, lost to B/E 56-79 and a 54-39 win over a good Corsica/Stickney team should keep the Hawks in the those receiving votes category.

Tie No. 5 - Langford - The Lions have a tough game with Dawson-Boyd Minnesota today, Saturday. That home loss to Irene/Wakonda though says Langford will have to hustle to make the state tournament this season.

Those receiving votes in the last poll were White River and Warner.

Warner is 4-0 and in the same region as Langford and Clark/Willow Lake...that is going to be interesting.

Rosebud Media Class B poll for Saturday, Dec. 30

No. 2 - Clark Willow Lake

No. 3 - Sully Buttes

No. 4 - White River

No. 5 - Warner

No 8 - Langford
